@PlutoKiller is taking it a little too far, don’t you think so, Mike Brown? Yes, the man who killed Pluto’s planet status is happy about it. Well, here are the two sides of the argument:
I actually grew up with Pluto as a planet, as did my parents and my siblings. So, we’re all still annoyed that it changed status. Some people are a little perturbed because astronomers, not planetary scientists, held the vote for ‘planet or not’. There’s another simpler argument, why not change the definition of ‘planet’ to include Pluto because then it would fit the public’s idea of the word ‘planet.’
Niel DeGrasse Tyson stated that Pluto, at one point, goes into Neptune’s orbit. It’s also considered too small to be a planet, especially after New Horizons flew by and took a look at it. It’s even smaller than our moon! Actually, Niel had an interview with the political comedian Stephen Colbert about Pluto’s status, here‘s the link. His tie even omits Pluto from the planet list.
